Delayed & Selective Vaccination Schedule
This schedule mostly follows Dr. Sears' as set out in "The Vaccine Book". I credit VeggieMommy for the original schedule. We may be tweaking it a bit more...

DTaP - 2,6,12,18 months (booster at 4 years). (Only Daptecel brand with no cow extract and a smaller dose of the pertussis component.) If he has any reaction stronger than a mild fever after any of those, we will stop after whichever shot that caused it.

Prevnar and HIB - 9,12,18,24 months. Same thing as above if he has a reaction...

IPV - 9,12,24 months (booster at 4 years) if we do it. Same thing about a reaction...

Mumps - 12 months (by itself)

Rubella - 2 years (by itself)

Measles - 3 years (by itself)

(boosters at 5 for MMR after titers have been checked)

Hep B (and possibly A)- probably start at 2 1/2

Varicella/Chickenpox - not doing until grade school or older if he doesn't get them on his own

Rotavirus - not doing at all

Flu shot - not doing at all

We will also make sure he is completely healthy before allowing him to have any shots and we will also up his vitamin intake for a few days before and after each one to help give his immune system a boost.

That pertussis... My midwife/doc told us that's the one you really have to worry about when they're little. These decisions are all so individual, but unfortunately public health policy is pretty cookie-cutter!

We did the DTaP w/Xav and he was Mr. Crankypants for 2 days. Poor booboo.
