What's your favorite bread recipe?
Why don't I bake bread more?

I just made a delicious beer bread, with the fastest and easiest and cheapest recipe ever. And it filled the house with chi. (I've heard the literal meaning of chi is "rice vapor", like what fills your home when you're cooking and you know all is right with the world.)

Here's my easiest ever recipe:

3 cups spelt flour (or wheat, whatever)
1 Tbs baking soda powder! Eeeeek! I meant powder!
1 Tbs sugar
1 tsp salt
12 oz beer

1/2 C raisins or anything tasty. I also added a dash of ground cloves and a teaspoon of cinnamon.

Mix together until just combined with a spatula, spread batter in greased and floured 8" pan, bake at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Let sit on a rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan, let sit for 10 minutes.

Delish bread in just over an hour.

What's your favorite bread recipe?

I just used an ale - nothing fancy! I bet I could have used a coors and it would have been fine. I noticed it was a little bitter, but it went well with raisins.
Yays! Also --- if you are not going to use the plastic pants or potty, I would LOVE 'em! Thank you thank you!!!

I love beer bread. I haven't made it in a while... this post has inspired me!

My favorite bread recipe, by far, is the no-knead bread that was circulating around the interwebs a few months ago. I usually replace 3/4 cup of bread flour with 3/4 cup of flax seed meal or wheat bran, and it works out just fine.

I just made a double batch of this banana bread on Saturday and it is THE BEST:

3 ripe bananas
2 eggs
2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda

Mix in a bowl 3 ripe bananas, well mashed, and 2 eggs, beaten until light. Sift together 2 cups flour, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon baking soda. Add to the first mixture. Stir well. Put in a buttered loaf pan 9 by 5 inches. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.

I'm going to try that! Most banana bread recipes are so oily/overly buttery. This one sounds yummy.
